1. Who we are

Akermoor Ltd, Company No. 16669327, registered at 28 Churchways Avenue, Bristol, BS7 8SL, UK. Contact: privacy@akermoor.co.uk

2. Data we collect

  • Contact details (name, email address, phone number)
  • Company information and job role
  • Message content submitted via our site or sent directly to us
  • Meeting notes or follow-up actions relating to engagements

We only collect special category data where you proactively share it with us, and we will promptly delete such data if it is not necessary for the engagement.

3. Purpose and lawful basis

We process your personal data to respond to enquiries, manage engagements, and comply with legal obligations.

Where we rely on legitimate interests we balance our interests with your rights and take steps to minimise impact, including limiting the data we store and providing simple opt-out routes.

4. Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Prospect enquiries that do not progress: up to 12 months.
  • Active client engagement records: for the duration of the engagement and up to seven years afterwards to meet legal and insurance obligations.
  • Financial records (including invoices): six years as required by HMRC.

We securely delete or anonymise data when it is no longer required.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share limited information with:

  • Professional advisers (such as legal or accounting partners) subject to confidentiality obligations.
  • Insurers or brokers for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining cover.
  • Regulators or law enforcement agencies where required by law.

6. International transfers

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
Requests: privacy@akermoor.co.uk

We will respond within one month, or inform you if an extension is required. You may withdraw consent at any time where consent is the lawful basis.

8. Cookies & analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Analytics and two functional cookies to remember accessibility preferences:

  • ak_a11y – stores your contrast, motion, and text-size selections together with a cryptographic signature so the toolbar renders correctly during server-side rendering.
  • ak_a11y_sid – a hashed, anonymous session identifier used only to sign the preference cookie and generate aggregated accessibility telemetry (no raw identifiers are stored).

Preferences can be reset at any time via the toolbar or by clearing these cookies/localStorage (akermoor.accessibility.preferences). Blocking or deleting them simply reverts the site to default settings and does not affect your ability to contact us.

Analytics events (persona switches, accessibility toggles) are aggregated and logged without personal identifiers; hashed session IDs are used purely to deduplicate events.

9. Security

We implement proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including device encryption, role-based access, and regular review of accounts and permissions. We limit system access to individuals who need it to deliver the services.

10. Third-party links

Our website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

11. Children

Our services are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data relating to individuals under 18.

12. Contact & complaints

If you have concerns, contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.
